Above Ground Pools: Interested?

If you want to have a swimming pool at home and you don't want to spend too much, consider having an above ground swimming pool, however, it can be very expensive. You can spend up to thirty thousand dollars. In contrast, building above ground pools can only cost about six thousand dollars. Of course, the cost can vary, depending on the size of the pool and the materials.

Your options can start at ring pools, which are quite simple and are normally around 12 feet wide and 3 feet tall. That should be all right if you have little space. A ring pool can be made of tough vinyl. When the pool is filled with water, its inflatable ring rises along with the sidewalls. A float-to-fill pool can contain more than one thousand gallons of water. This is the cheapest option, costing a few hundred dollars.

The next option is the frame kind, which is costlier, but more permanent. It's a little harder to assemble, and is usually twice bigger than a ring pool. Frame ones can last up to 20 years or more. They are high, about 4 feet tall or more, so, you need a ladder to get in and out. With this type of installation, you can have a varying depth of water. Installers can bury one end of the framework deeper, so that water levels vary. Just don't expect any part to go deeper than 6 feet. After installing the pool, you can enhance the area through landscaping.

Take note that installation of frame pools is tough. Although not as time consuming as building an in-ground one, making a frame pool takes at least two days, but the entire work can stretch up to five days. There is a lot of work to do, like leveling the site and setting up a sand bed. You should contact a dealer sometime in winter or spring.

The frame types are much more expensive to build than the ring ones. A typical frame pool costs about four thousand dollars, and the price goes up if you add more features. These swimming pools hold more than three thousand gallons of water.

Above ground pools cannot be left alone, or they will get really ugly and dirty. A ring pool can be drained when no longer in use. A frame one, on the other hand, is a permanent installation. Its water needs to be maintained. Pool cleaners and filters are essential for both of these types. Chlorine may be used to kill bacteria, but be aware of the right amount to apply. Put a solar blanket over the pool when you are not going to use it.

Installation of an above ground pool does not require the homeowner to obtain a permit, because it is not permanent. Building the frame kind may or may not affect the value of your home. Some home developers and homeowners associations discourage people to install such types. Contact your home insurance provider if you are planning to add one on your property to know how it affects your insurance policy.
